Director, Digital Media
Description
FKA is seeking a seasoned leader to enhance our digital media capabilities and provide dedicated mentorship to our growing team. This is a permanent position created to strengthen our digital media function and ensure the agency remains positioned for sustained growth through technical credibility and team development. You will bridge the gap between sophisticated media strategy and measurable execution, earning the trust of our digital team and clients. This position reports to the VP, Media.
FKA is the largest full-service marketing and advertising agency headquartered in Edmonton. We manage over $20 million in annual media spend and have earned more than 120 awards for creativity and effectiveness. Our clients include the Government of Alberta, The Brick, Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Edmonton International Film Festival.
Responsibilities
- Lead the digital media team in the development and execution of sophisticated full-funnel strategies.
- Provide direct mentorship and professional development for a team of six, including two direct reports and four skip-level reports.
- Oversee the performance and optimization of high-budget digital campaigns across diverse client portfolios.
- Drive innovation in digital tactics by integrating new tools and AI-driven workflows into media research and execution.
- Manage senior client relationships and translate technical digital performance data into clear business insights.
- Ensure accountability and clarity in media reporting to meet high agency standards for results.
Required experience
- 7+ years of experience in digital media planning and buying.
- Proven track record managing multi-million dollar budgets for retail, government or B2B clients.
- Technical proficiency in Google Ads, GA4, Google Merchant Center and Google Tag Manager.
- Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
- Experience leading and managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Capabilities
- High emotional intelligence with a focus on coaching and developing junior to intermediate talent.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to solve complex performance problems.
- Strong communication skills to simplify technical digital concepts for executive-level audiences.
Assets
- Previous leadership experience within a marketing or advertising agency.
- Experience using AI tools to optimize media workflows and research.
- Current certifications in Google Ads, Meta Blueprint or other major platform designations.
The salary range for this position is $91,700 to $128,400. This is a full-time position based in Edmonton with a hybrid work model requiring three days in-office per week. We provide a comprehensive benefits package including extended health coverage and RRSP matching.
